Management server

We’ve a dedicated 19” management server at the office, which is used for:

Important

The server is dedicated, because we want those services independent from the rest of the datacenter infrastructure.

Note

To access to the management server, use the SSH URL in the Dashboard to connect to it from within our networks, or via Road warrior VPN.

Eve server

We’ve a dedicated 19” «project eve» server at the office, which is used for:

Important

The server is dedicated, because we want those customer services running on an independent server in Switzerland.

Note

To access to the eve server, use the SSH URL in the Dashboard to connect to it from within our networks, or via Road warrior VPN.

Mac mini

https://status.management.confirm.ch/api/badge/174/status?style=flat-square

We’re running a Mac mini with a GitLab CI runner on it.

Hint

The GitLab CI runner is used for Visual regression testing.

Note

To access the Mac mini, use the SSH URL in the Dashboard, or «Apple Remote Desktop» to connect to it from within our networks, or via Road warrior VPN.

Synology

https://status.management.confirm.ch/api/badge/179/status?style=flat-square

We’ve a dedicated Synology NAS which we’re using for:

  • Store (large) files we don’t want on the SSD storage

  • Media files

  • Backups

Important

The Synology storage is attached to the servers via iSCSI.

iSCSI is configured in the Synology web UI, and on the server via Ansible iSCSI role.

Note

The Synology NAS can be accessed via web browser. Check out the Dashboard for the Synology web UI.

PiKVM

To access the servers’ native USB & HDMI ports, we’ve a PiKVM installed. This is especially helpful, when you can no longer access the servers via SSH.

Because there are multiple servers, there’s also an 8-port KVM switch behind the PiKVM.

Hint

To switch the inputs on the PiKVM, you can choose one of the following methods:

  1. Use the physical input switch buttons on the KVM switch

  2. Use the physical infrared remote

  3. Use Ctrl + Ctrl + [1-8] via PiKVM keyboard input

Note

The PiKVM can be accessed via web browser. Check out the Dashboard for the PiKVM web UI.

APC UPS

Most of the rack equipment is connected to a APC UPS. The APC UPS is configured via Ansible, resp. via apcupsd role.

Note

To replace batteries, check out the Batteries chapter.
